Notes: An unusual find on this side of the Atlantic - a nicely preserved pair of absolutely huge table lamps by the Laurel Manufacturing Company, a leading name in American MCM lighting design during the 1950s-70s.

The lamps comprise a cast aluminium base with a gold-coloured lacquer, a bladed knop shape and an impressed atomic era pattern, surmounted by an oval column wrapped in a teak veneer, with a further knopped stem above.

The lamps bear their original shade 'harps', but these have been adapted slightly to take standard European shades (but can be easily removed to reinstate an American 'spider' shade).

They have been rewired with a generous length of premium Italian-made twisted cable with a grey-coloured linen braid, and retrofitted with an earth/ground tag inside the lamp so that they meet modern European safety standards. They have their original switched US E26 bulb-holders, but these are fully compatible with European E27 screw-fit bulbs.

One bulb-holder bears an original label.

Condition Report: Some flaking of the gold lacquer to the lamp bases, but only on the underside of the 'knop', and so entirely out of sight when the lamp is in situ. Other than the occasional light mark, the lamps are in excellent condition for their age.

General Disclaimer: Because many of our vintage and antique lighting pieces are sold internationally, this lamp will be shipped without a plug unless otherwise mentioned. We can fit a standard UK plug for UK customers - please ask before or at the time of purchase.
