Pujols/Molina:
- The Pujols 2005 Wheaties cover Bat, from Pujols 1st MVP season. Only known uncracked bat certified by PSA/DNA as game used by BOTH Yadier Molina AND Albert Pujols. Same bat Pujols held in his 2005 Wheaties Cereal Box Cover appearance. Used in early 2005 by Pujols, then gifted by Pujols to Yadi. By all analysis neither Pujols nor Molina ever struck out with this bat, despite both using extensively for weeks (in succession; was used by Pujols first, then gifted to Yadi.) This was one of the most infamous periods for Pujols, when he went impossibly long periods without striking out, playing every game. He played all but 1 game in 2005. First 2005 (April) strikeout: the 15th. First August strikeout: Aug 11th. Only 17 times did he strike out in consecutive games. FIVE times he went at least a week between strikeouts. - 1/1 Only weighted bat used in Pujols career, used before every at bat of the 2020 season, used exclusively by Pujols. A product of the Covid Pandemic, designed to insulate the players from each other and decrease risk of contagion. Only known piece of Pujols game used equipment to be used every at bat of every game of an entire season. This particular season, that included passing Willie Mays on the all time Home Run list, hitting HR 660 and 661 in the same game to tie and pass Mays, likely the last who ever will.
