this woofer is in better than great shape, new Altec model 416 factory cone, this is equal to an Altec Lansing model 803 or a 416, 15 inch woofer, (this is a 602A duplex  with non working HF tweeter). .

the altec 602 is basically a model 803 or 416 woofer with a concentrically mounted model 3000 horn tweeter.  this 602 has a fresh Altec factory 416 recone job, done in the altec factory, and was stored safely for many years without putting them into service. the paper cone is not punctured at the mounting holes so it was never mounted. the workmanship and altec service labels with numbers are altec factory stamped, and the cone has a quality look of a new vintage altec woofer.

die cast aluminum basket, 'AlNiCo 5' (aluminum, nickel, cobalt) magnet, is rated to have a fequency response  of 20-1.6kHz, 3 inch edge-wound copper ribbon  voice coil,  rated at 30 watts, and at over 99 dB sensitivity (@1w-1m).
10 watts in this speaker sounds very loud and clear to me, very efficient....

altec lansing 602A duplex loudspeaker, used the same basket and motor, with the model 803, or 416A and others..
check pictures for ohm meter test figures. also tested with crossover and an amp, sounds great, full sounding.

the hf tweeter does not work, and the steel magnet cover has been repainted.

I read, at the  'Lansing Heritage' site, that the Altec factory never rebuilt the high frequency horn tweeters in the 602 duplex, and were replaced in stead of repaired. this put the defective 602s', with burnt out tweeters up for grabs for the factory workers to grab. I bought this from the estate of a former Altec factory worker.

this woofer will be a great fit in; a profesional monitor or home vintage hi-fi speaker with a nice full sound. these paired up very nice with large 500Hz or 800Hz  hf horns as in; the "magnificent", and the 'voice of the theater' horn loaded bass reflex cabinets, or the big professional 612 studio monitors, or home hi-fi 'valencia', and many others - .
