Many guys will have lower backs that curve inward, so removing fabric
from this portion of the shirt can help the shirt follow the lines of
their body more closely". So basically it if your back curves inward you usually have excess fabric at the part where your back curves and the darts brings the shirt closer to your body for a better fit.
