Few aficionados of country music think
of England when they consider the
source of the greatest musicians in
the field. Country music is American
music, bred of American folk, telling
American stories. But one of the great-
est players in country music today, on both elec-
tric and acoustic guitar, is a 45-year-old native
of the British Isles, Albert Lee.
Sideman and soloist, guitar player and man-
dolinist, singer and songwriter—Lee has filled
all of these roles in his more than 30 years in
music. His sizzling guitar work has backed such
luminaries as Emmylou Harris, the Everly
Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rosanne Cash, Ricky
Skaggs, and Joe Cocker. His stylistic range is
such that he has even toured and recorded—
and traded solos—with rock icon Eric Clapton.
Emmylou Harris fans are well-acquainted
with Lee's acoustic guitar and mandolin work.
He was a member of her Hot Band in the mid-
'70s (replacing another country guitar legend,
James Burton), and has recorded with her fre-
quently ever since. His acoustic guitar was fea-
tured prominently on the 1987 Harris/Dolly
Parton/Linda Ronstadt album Trio...

And much more!
