On Friday, May 24, thousands of bikers from all over America, Canada, and Europe
began to arrive in the Washington, D.C., area for the annual Run to the Wall. It's a
special time to say thanks to those whose names are on the Wall and to remember that
they gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy.
Within walking distance of the black wall known as the Vietnam Memorial, you’ll
find the Korean War Memorial. The Korean War saw 8,177 Americans unaccounted
for. Here, overlooking a small pool fronting the statues of soldiers crossing some far-
off battlefield in Korea, is the inscription, "Freedom is not free."
On Saturday, May 25, at a little past noon, the thunder of 200 members of the Nam
Knights rumbled over to the Sea and Air Museum. In a plaza, with the Air Museum
standing guard, is tine National Police Memorial. The Nam Knights are a motorcycle
club comprised of Vietnam Veterans who are members of law enforcement. Some of
the names on the wall at the Police Memorial served in Vietnam then returned to their
home to serve their local communities.
The morning of the 26th began with hundreds of thousands of bikers arriving at the
Pentagon, the staging area for the Ride to the Wall. Local news stations covered the
event live, in addition to coverage by CNN. The images playing across TV screens were
of families who have waited without an answer about a loved one for nearly 30 years...

And much more!
