DESCRIPTION: Here is a mid to late 19th century Davenport bone china coffee cup and saucer. Hand painted with a Persian type pattern and having Persian roof profiles. The outside top rim of the cup with simulated red jewels in gold frames with the inside top rim having white jewels in gold frames. The cup has a a fully gilded loop shaped handle. The saucer being in the same pattern with a wide gilt band to the outer well. Both cup and saucer are marked to the base with a red painted pattern number 3116 with the saucer having a puce crown over Davenport, Longport, Staffordshire. dates between 1870 to 1886. I would date it to circa 1876.
Davenport closed in 1886. I have three more available.

SIZE:  The cup measures 2 1/2 inches high x 2 11/16 in diameter. The saucer measures 5 3/16 inches in diameter. Weighs 200 g before packing.

CONDITION:  No chips, cracks or restoration and both ring well when tapped. The cup handle has a small piece of gilt loss at the back near the base. The saucer has light all round scratching to the wide gilt band to the outer well. There are four minor dot paint over splashes.
