Safety and quality are LSDs highest priorities.The LSD door system consists of a specific door hinge which initially opens the factory door 30 degrees outwards, like a common car door and then upwards by the support of a gas shock with minimal effort. The door opens in 2 steps: Step 1: Open the door outwards as usual to a maximum angle of approximately 30 degrees. Allowing comfortable access to enter and exit the vehicle. Step 2: Lift the door after reaching the opening angle of 30 degrees. This is done with ease as the door is supported by the gas shock to an angle of approximately 40 degrees. The LSD door hinges are installed at the original mounting points of the dismantled factory hinges. A range of adjustability is built into each LSD door hinge for perfect alignment and operation. Additional features also include limits that prevent the doors from being open too far as well as avoiding contact of the rocker panel.

Crashtest Side impact test according to ECE-R 95 and EG guideline 96/27/EWG A side impact test on an Audi TT equipped with LSD door hinges has been conducted by the DEKRA Accident Research and Crash Test Center according to ECE-R 95 and EG guideline 96/27/EWG. A moving barrier accelerated to 50 km/h (30 mph) to impact 100% of the side of the vehicle. A dummy (type Euro-SID 1) was utilized to measure the passenger protection and to identify the loads on head, chest, abdomen and pelvis. The side impact test impressively proved: vehicles equipped with LSD doors offer the necessary protection and guarantee optimum safety for their passengers. Tensile Force Comparative Test Tensile Force Comparative Test according to EWG guideline 70/387/EWG The force increases permanently to 9.000 Newton. The test takes about 10 minutes for each hinge (shown here in fast motion). The force gradually decreases after reaching the maximum force. Each hinge is now measured how far it is reforming to its original shape.
