This beautiful plant grows rapidly to become a shrub like bush four feet tall or more even in Northern gardens. The stems are a healthy medium green. In late Spring, blooms out in a vast display of brilliant Violet Purple flowers. The velvety petals are soft and delicate and seem to sparkle in the sunlight. The blossoms are filled with contrasting bright Yellow stamen. The skeletal wood of this plant is used for making canes, picture frames, and other crafts and curios. Spinosior is a highly adaptable plant that can survive extreme heat, drought and freezing temperatures.
