Simply fabulous set of 4 antique French miniature paintings in dark wooden frames.  Each painting is brightly colored scene in romantic 18th century style and set with a gilt metal bezel under slightly domed glass.   They have Latin printed paper backs with small rings to hang.
1) woman in red gown being serenaded by gent playing a string instrument.   He is wearing a large hat and a red cloak.  They are in a garden with a cherub statue.  Signed "T. de M."
2) Romantic pair dancing, their arms are outstretched, and she is wearing a gown decorated with roses.  Signed "T. de M."
3) A family in garden with mother, father and little girl.   The mother has her arm up and she is holding a black bird on a string!  Signed with a name, looks like "J. Cahay" but not sure of last name
4) Young man in red jacket surrounded by four lovely ladies in different colored gowns, looks like each is vying for his attention.  Signed with same name as #3, I think "J. Cahay".
It is not easily noticed, but the first 2 signed T. de M. are slightly smaller than than the other 2 signed J. Cahay.   The miniature painting in first 2 are 2-1/4" in diameter and finished frames are 4-3/8" square.  The 2 signed J. Cahay have miniature paintings that are 2-1/2" in diameter and finished frames are 4-3/4" square.  Otherwise they are so similar in color and style, but technically this is really two pairs of French miniatures rather than a set of 4.
All 4 in very good condition, no damage.
