THE COMANCHES STYLE OWL JEWEL 

The Owl Jewel is a unique and original necklace of ethnic-tribal style created and painted by hand by Amira Munteanu Bergmann taking inspiration from the meaning of nocturnal birds in the legends and traditions of the native Americans, in particular the Comanches tribe a leader of which was the Old Owl.
The central body of the jewelry is composed of the face of an owl with a long black beak, large hazel-colored eyes embellished with torquoise top, gem and feather.
On the underside of the small sculpture are attached a series of ropes and strips of leather decorated with beads of different shapes and colors that recall the fringes of the typical natives dresses.
The upper part of the jewel is formed by a series of elements of various shapes, colors and materials ending with a rope to be tied with a knot behind the neck.
Being an artisanal product, if, on the one hand, its components do not have a regular shape and may present imperfections, on the other hand there can never be a jewel identical to this. 



SYMBOLISM

The owl in Native American cultures had mostly positive values: it was a symbol of wisdom and cunning that could confer clairvoyance. In natives' zodiac the lunar month between November 21 and December 21 was dedicated to the owl and, among the various tribes was widespread legend about when it tried to become the King of birds. 
The other birds wanted him as a King because of its wisdom.
The only one to disagree was the crow who claimed that it would have been better a clever leader. To convince them, it told a story: to overcome its inability to fish, an old heron resorted to a cunning expedient. It explained to the fish that the humans were going to drain the lake and only if they jumped into its mouth they would be saved. The fish followed the advice and the heron ate them. A crab, understanding the deception, asked the heron to spare it and choked it saving the remaining fish. At the end of the story, the birds agreed with the crow. But the owl repeated its candidacy as a sage. Then the raven told a second story in which a sage abandoned to brigands the kid that had been given to him only because he had been able to tell the thugs that he had been deceived and they had given him an ugly and dirty animal. The owl, when it heard this, was offended and flew away, so the birds continued to attack without a king.

Consequently, the jewels, although also having a decorative and ornamental function, first of all, were thought to have deep symbolic and magical values linked to religion and superstition.
To remain faithful to this spirit and since in the realization of ceremonies and magical rituals are fundamental not only the gestures that are performed and the formulas that are pronounced but also the tools that are used, the creation of this mini-sculpture has followed a specific path in tune with the secret rules of the Arcane in order to load it with appropriate energies.
