Apparently there was a pretty good cottage industry repurposing these antique Post Office Box doors, as we discovered when researching these banks. No wonder, they are super cool & some really good craftsmen made most of them from what we have found. This bank with an Indianapolis Lock Co (circa 1885) door has a great look & apparently is popular among collectors of the old Post Office box doors & related items. The brass door has two dials, with three pointers on each, raised relief US initials & a number 9 glass panel. The combo works well & door opens and closes easily. We only dusted this off after obtaining, so you may wish to polish it up a bit. Not sure of the wood the box is made from, many are made of walnut, but just not certain. The little sticker on front was just an indicator her put State Quarters in bank, we just left it. These have sold for up to $185 over the years on eBay and for less of course, so we just tried to be fair with pricing. Please Read: See our Feedback & Buy with confidence. We ship with extreme care and all items are fully insured! We often take from 30-90 minutes packing more delicate & odd sized items to make sure your treasure is protected. We also photograph most items above $100 while packing in case a shipper were to ever damage an item (only one time in over 2,000 US shipped sales). For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer's responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers. The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers). So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns. Sales tax is charged according to your state or country's regulations. Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. Signature confirmation will be required if your item is above $100 so please plan accordingly. We can make an exception if you do not want a signature confirmation, but keep in mind if an item is delivered & goes missing from your porch, mail box or other prior to you retrieving the item, shippers will not cover it and you would have to assume the risk. Also, FedEx & Others are beginning to require signature on items above $500-$700. Last, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order. |
