American Airlines added two major ski resorts to its network with nonstop service from its Chicago and Dallas / Ft. Worth hubs. 

Steamboat Springs was served by flights from both Chicago and Dallas / Ft. Worth.  Boeing 727 aircraft were used. Steamboat Springs is actually served by the Yampa Valley Regional Airport located in Hayden, Colorado some twenty-five miles west of the city.
