1903 Buffet Crampon Cei A Paris Bass Clarinet in great condition. I am just a dumb guitar player so please help me here with info. I do not play the clarinet but I understand the mechanics.
There is a mouthpiece included which is vintage hard rubber; Penzel Mueller ARTIST Long Island City, NY as shown.
The pads look very gently used and the cork on the newer side. I was able to put together very easily but snug. No cracks in the wood. The serial number from Buffet site shows this was made in 1903. The keys have some tarnish and the wood cleaned up beautifully. Clearly this is a great find in this condition at 120 years old. I bought out a collection of wind instruments and will be listing them. It was purchased from the brother of a band member of Johnny Carson's band.
Apparently he travelled all over the world and bought high end instruments in great condition such as Haynes flutes and and great woodwinds. Please let me know if you have any information of this Bass Clarinet. All the instruments I bought were professional grade. Happy to answer any questions.
