Antique Satinwood Tea Caddy Circa 1820

Inlaid Satinwood Tea Caddy with ebonised edging. Standing on four brass-ball feet, this unique caddy also has two Brass Lion's Head carry handles.

The exterior of this Sarcophagus-shaped Caddy features fine, exquisitely decorative inlays on all sides, including a lyre on the top. The interior of this Satinwood tea caddy shows some more impressive artistic cabinet work, with the inlays and vibrant colours kept from the light, like the day it was made; this can be seen with the superb Conch Shell shown in the lid of the stunning Tea Caddy. There are two compartments inside the caddy, which are protected by Satinwood lids with turned Bone handles, the compartments still contain traces of their original lining. The underside of the main lid also has a beautiful conch shell inlay.

Comes with a fully working lock and a tasselled key.
