Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very collectible older 1950's era Shure Brothers 707A crystal "bullet" microphone set at high impedance originally intended as an affordable, rugged "general purpose" mic. It was generally used for dispatch and communications but happens to be sought after by harp players today for using with the harmonica. More on that later.

Pic # 2 is from an old 1940's advertisement showing the mics basic characteristics. This particular mic was only made for about 15 years before being discontinued.

The 707A is an all metal body that's lite weight and about the size of nectarine and easy to cup in the hands. A great mic to use with a harmonica and easy to hold for prolonged periods of time.

It should be noted right away that the mic still has it's original crystal element and has been tested. It has the 99B94 model element and I would rate the signal strength at 75%. That's pretty good for such an old crystal element and it can be used. Some gain will really help the cause too and I would recommend this as a harp mic. You can always install a new element if you want more power from this mic and there is more than enough room for a Shure Controlled Reluctance or Controlled Magnetic element.

As you can see this mic is in pretty decent overall condition despite the typical wear. It shows scratches and a couple tiny paint chips on the original painted grey finish. The head is free of any dents, dings or fractures which is always a bonus. The royal blue Shure label looks very nice and completely legible. The satin chrome front grill looks very nice with zero pitting or scratches on the bezel. The grill is free of any dents or bent ribs and the black cloth inner screen is very nice being free of any rips or holes. No odors either. You'll see that the 707A will screw onto any desk or floor stand. Please let the detailed pics be your guide.

The mic also has a short 6 foot cable that is soft, pliable and free of damage. It has the vintage Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector that is wired correctly. This mic is ready to go.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

I do have several older stands to choose from if one is needed for this 707A.

                  As always...
