Blackboard effect paint ® is a satin acrylic paint suitable for communication and creativity spaces, ideal for playrooms, schools, commercial activities, recreational areas and wall books, internal environments, easy to apply with a brush or roller on a smooth and well-treated surface. Super resistant and writable product with chalk, it can be erased with a wool cassino.


Coverage INDICATIVE: 

Pack of 0.200 kg. for a Coverage of 3 m² per layer, sufficient to make a 1 m² blackboard in three layers (recommended cycle).

Pack of 0.600 kg. for a Coverage of 10 m² per layer, sufficient to make a 3.5 m² blackboard in three layers (recommended cycle).

Pack of 1,000 kg. for a Coverage of 15 m2 per layer, sufficient to make 5 m2 with 3 layers (recommended cycle).

Complete drying 12 hours, 

Wait 5 days for chalk writing.


The blackboard effect paint is easy to apply to walls or wooden panels, plasterboard walls to create block notes areas, notices, news or in playrooms areas for educational use. In classrooms a real creative and educational activity. It replaces the ancient stone blackboards that occupy spaces and costs of continuous maintenance.  After drying (5 days) you can write with normal school chalks (do not use nail-tip chalks, it could damage the surface) you can erase with a wool or scottex liner, cleaning the supports is always recommended with a dry cloth. For an excellent application, we recommend applying it with a short-haired Mohar roller or our rubber roller.

Production colours: slate grey, black, green  

Dilution with water: 5, 10%, application with a rubber roller, a coat of "Fondo base" is required before applying blackboard effect paint

VOC: VOC content 50 gr./l 

 

Abrasion resistance: (wet abrasion resistance) according to EN 13300 standard. According to this standard, the product is defined as class 1 (the loss of thickness of the paint film is < 5 microns after 200 brush strokes) (the test procedure is reported in the ISO 11998 standard), cleaning the substrates is always recommended with a cloth dry.

Application cycle: putty and prepare the smooth wall, apply a coat of basic fund using a short nap roller and three coats of  chalkboard paint using a short-haired roller or a sponge roller in order to obtain a smooth and homogeneous surface.

 The wall must dry 6, 8 hours between one application and another

Strictly on plasterboard walls it is advisable to apply two coats of 'Fondo base' and wait for it to dry for 24 hours, before proceeding to apply Blackboard Paint. This prevents stains and halos.

Wall Usage: once the work is completed, it is advisable to wait for 5, 7 days for it to dry. The film must crystallize on the support before starting to write with the chalks.


It is recommended not to use nail-shaped plasters but with soft tips (break the tips). The wall is renewed with the passage of a dry cloth like a traditional blackboard

Production characteristics and nature of the product: single-component polyurethane with high performance and resistance to scratches and abrasions. Eggshell effect patina with characteristic fiber typical of nylon. The product resists to very high performances with catalysis from 4, max 7¢ with CX01 catalyst.

Chalkboard paint contains a maximum of 100 g/l of VOCs.

Dilution: first coat dilution 10-15%, second and third coat 5-10%

Drying: dry to the touch 3 hours,

Cleaning: the wall is cleaned with a dry, non-damp rag.

 

Environmental conditions: the product can be applied at temperatures (ambient/support) between +5°C and +35°C.

Tool cleaning: immediately with water after use

Application: recommended roller, brush, spray find the appropriate technical conditions.

You consume: the recommended application of the product is 80, 90 grams per m² per coat of product

 

APPLICATION ON PLASTERBOARD:

on plasterboard substrates if not properly treated, they could create surface staining problems. It is advisable to apply two coats of Fondo Base on the plasterboard support beforehand. Wait 24 hours before applying three coats of Blackboard Paint. The surface is ready for writing after 5, 7 days after the product has dried.

Soft non-nail shaped chalks are recommended.

APPLICATION ON MASONRY:

on suitably treated, grouted and smooth masonry supports, apply one or two coats of base coat and three coats of blackboard paint. The surface is ready for writing after 5, 7 days after the product has dried. Soft non-nail shaped chalks are recommended.

APPLICATION ON WOOD AND MDF:

on wooden supports, suitably treated and filled, apply one or two coats of Fondo base and three coats of blackboard paint. The surface is ready for writing after 5, 7 days after the product has dried. Soft non-nail shaped chalks are recommended.

APPLICATION ON SHEET METAL AND METAL:

on metal supports, suitably treated and filled, apply a plasticizing anti-corrosion primer, three coats of blackboard paint. The surface is ready for writing after 5, 7 days after the product has dried. Soft non-nail shaped chalks are recommended.
