A vintage ceramic serving platter with an embossed rim and transferware pattern showing summer fruit and flowers. Made in Japan, likely sometime in the 1950-60s.

Around the rim of the platter is a raised or embossed design of strawberries with leaves. There is also a central design of mixed summer fruits (apple, pear, plums, raspberries) and flowers and leaves (rose, peony, morning glory, nasturtium). The pattern is brown transferware highlighted with colors that appear to be hand-painted. The platter measures 16" x 12-1/2" to the outside edges. The border is 2" wide and the inner well measures approximately 12" x 8-1/2".

The quality of the platter is more like everyday service, not fine china. There is one area of the rim that shows inclusions under the glaze and there are a couple of rough small spots along the rim. There are signs of wear consistent with its age and prior use over the years but no chips or cracks. Please see photos for details.
