The French Gien plates were created to celebrate the bicentennial of the French Revolution from 1789 to 1989. Each plate is decorated with the back view of a different soldier. Some say these are dessert plates, others say decorative. 

Approximately 8 1/8" diameter.

Both plates have areas of rough glaze on the back and front.
