 DESCRIPTION:
The great Nomar Garciaparra, Boston Red Sox player and slugging shortstop, hit not one but two grand slams, as well as a 2 run homer, all in the same game, with 10 RBI's and who for a stretch of time, outpaced MLB Hall of Famer and former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, with a better batting average, OPS, War7, 162 W-L% and nearly every defensive metric. Garciaparra won 2 batting titles. MLB Hall of Famer Derek Jeter never won one. Although Jeter came on in later years and outpaced Garciaparra's early achievements with his own set of achievements, Nomar Garciaparra will someday and hopefully soon, be reconsidered and re-evaluated as a Major League baseball player and shortstop, who also made an enormous impact on his own team and was one of the catalysts for them, to not only win but to be a bonafide World Series contender, year in and year out. So why the enormous gulf between Jeter and Garciaparra then? The facts and statistics speak for themselves. Some will talk of intangibles and what each player accomplished at the tail end of their careers but Nomar Garciaparra when he was younger, was a veritable tour de force and one of the best shortstops to ever play the game of baseball, American or National League, going to both his left and right, enshrining the shortstop position. So then, what gives? ...Noomaaaah!
