This Appears to be a Vintage Replica of An Old Chinese Sheng-Type Musical Instrument - Not Sure If It Was Originally An Instrument or A Vintage Decorative Replica

There Are Two Round Marks on the Back of the Base and Neck that Could Have Been Openings OR They May Be Production Marks From the Casting...

Measures: Sculpture: 13" tall" x 6" diameter; Box: 18" x 8" x 8"  

Weighs: 3 lb 1.1 oz; Box: 6 lb 4 oz; Total = 9 lb 5 oz

Age: Unsure When This Replica Was Made.  Has been in Owner's Family since at least the 1940s

2 Circle Based Geometric Cut-Outs On the Front 

Decorated on the Side with Old Chinese Characters (Chinese Oracle Bone Script)(Please See Photo #9) 

These Characters (read right to left, top to bottom) Are An Excerpt From An Inscription On An Antique Bronze Piece That Was Unearthed And On Display in A Museum In China

The characters "吳", "差", and "月" Are Not Written Correctly

Since this is just part of an original script the characters presented here do not have the full meaning. Roughly translated: the first 4 characters are the name of a person, then it says in the 5th & 6th characters "to make himself", the 7th character is a bird, and the last two are the month of May)

The Entire Piece is Heavily Patinaed and in Very Good Condition

The Bamboo Tubes/Sticks That Would be Part of This Instrument Are NOT Included

Presented in a Beautiful Heavy Wood Fitted Storage Box, Covered in a Taupe Colored Raw Silk 

The Box is Heavily Padded to Cradle the Instrument and Lined in Grey Taffeta (Please See Photo #19)

The Box Has Exquisite Bone Carved Closures (Please See Photos #14, 15, 16)

Condition: Very good condition.  Age patina all over. No dents or scratches.  Appears the original small holes in the back that may have been for the musical instrument are plugged, OR these round marks are simply from the manufacturer of the bronze piece. Storage box slightly warped on lower right corner (see photo #15), otherwise very good condition.  Please use the zoom tool and take a close look at all photographs as they are an important part of the description
