Antique Gold Tone Cast Iron Double Wall Pocket Match Safe Fireplace Matchstick Holder Pat. 1867

This is a Gold tone double pocket design with basket style holders.  It has a center striker and PAT Jan 1867 on the back.  Looks to be in overall very good used condition. Measures about 7-1/2 by 5 inches across the back.

Not 100% sure of material used - it is magnetic and has significant weight to it so guessing it is cast iron and not Brass. BUT the back side looks brass and it looks like the 2 baskets have a rivet... the color looks brass but evidence that this has had more than 1 coat of paint,,,,,, although the PATENT stamp is quite clear so it doesn't have paint build up. Looks to be in the Hollywood Regency / Rococo style.

Originally this would be kept in the kitchen or next to the fireplace. One side held the matches and the other side was for the used matches and between them lower is the striker to light the match.
