Pražský výběr is a Czech rock band founded in 1976 by keyboardist and singer Michael Kocáb. In the second half of the 1970s, she focused on jazz rock, which was popular at the time. In the early 1980s, she embarked on a complete change of style; at that time it was one of the most important Czech new wave groups. Between 1983 and 1986, Pražský výběr was banned by the regime; he was able to return to concerts and album releases only in the second half of the 80s. After 1989, the group performed rather sporadically, and held a larger number of concerts again only after 2000. Due to disagreements between the two main characters, Michael Kocáb and guitarist Michal Pavlíček, the group of 2006 fell apart In October 2006, Kocáb founded a new group called Pražský výběr II, which toured until 2009. In 2012, a reunion of Pražský výběr was announced.
