The Great Barrier Reef is a spectacular underwater showcase that stretches more than 2600 kilometers and inlcudes over 900 islands. As beautiful as it is diverse, it is home to over 1500 species of fish, 215 spiecies, of birds, as well as sea turtles, dolphins, and whales. Its history spans 20 million years, with generations of living coral growing on top of its predecessors.
