A sterling silver mixed metals water pitcher with copper and other metal applications including exotic plants, butterflies and birds and a salamander on the hammered handle. The pitcher is marked with the retailer Theodore B Starr and is probably the work of Dominick & Haff of New York who had a close association with Starr. The pitcher is in excellent condition with pristine graduated spot hammering extending to the lip and the base. Never monogrammed. Circa 1880.  Height 7 1/2"; weight 29 troy oz.
