By: Erte - Romain de Tirtoff (23 November 1892 – 21 April 1990) was a Russian-born French artist and designer known by the pseudonym Erté, the French pronunciation of his initials, R.T.

The bookplate is in excellent condition, sourced from a first edition book, and is printed on quality glossy paper.

The artist Erte' is and was synonymous with Art Deco design. He was an illustrator, a fashonista and a stage set designer who lived to be nearly ninety-eight. Born in Russia, he made his mark in France and The United States. Art Deco, closely identified with industry and the machine age, has regained popularity in our era. Erte's fanciful designs speak for themselves.
