Welcome to Lakeside Merchants. Thanks for checking out one of the treasures we found for you.

Most items we sell are from local estates and range from antique to vintage, to unique, or useful.

Our prices are well researched and fall mostly in the middle or lower scale of the price range. We do consider the condition and scarcity of an item when determining the value.

Pictures are part of the description; most of the time we include a size reference, i.e. ruler, coin, deck of cards, pop can, etc.

Please add your name to our newsletter subscriber list for our store “Lakeside Estates” to get a monthly update of newly listed items and be the first to know about sales specials.

ITEM: A lot of 2 vintage scrimshaw like pictures with gristmill designs.

DESCRIPTION: These are large scrimshaw engraved or etched plaques made of composite resin resembling old ivory. The plaques are about 1/4" thick. The gristmills are very detailed, it looks like some spend a lot of time creating these beautiful pictures. Unfortunately, I didn't find a signature and I wasn't able to do more research. The plaques were glued onto a red velvet like fabric with a big blob of thick glue. I could probably chisel the hard glue off, but I didn't want to risk breaking the plaques. These will look awesome with a professional frame job.

CONDITION: In excellent condition, except for the hardened glue on the back.

AGE: Unknown, they appear to be older, possibly mid-century.

MEASUREMENTS: The first one measures 12" x 9 1/2", the second one measures 10 1/2" x 14".

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Unknown.

LOTS:

Most lots are packaged and stored in our warehouse until shipping. We can not break up lots and sell only some items out of the lot.

We don’t accept lower offers than the minimum bidding price for auction items. For our "buy-it-now" store items we run several sales throughout the year. If indicated by a "best offer" button, we are open to a reasonable offer for certain items.

QUESTIONS:

All reasonable questions about an item are welcome. We try to answer any question to the best of our ability!

BIDDING:

Please only bid on an auction if you are serious about purchasing the item. It is time-consuming and costly to deal with non-paying bidders. We invest time and money in locating the items for sale and incur costs for purchasing, transporting, researching, cleaning, repair if necessary, storage, packaging, and shipping.

PAYMENT:

We accept PayPal.

We only accept cash if you pick up your item in person.

PACKAGING:

We package all items safely so that they will arrive in the same condition they were shipped. Fragile items will be protected and double boxed if necessary. Due to the rough handling by the post office and other shipping services, they do still break on occasion. We buy insurance for fragile and/or valuable items to protect both of us from loss. The additional cost, if any, is included in the shipping charges.

SHIPPING:

We use USPS priority mail unless other options are a better match for certain items, i.e. media mail for books and printed matter, and first class for small items. With USPS priority mail you will receive your item in a new, high-quality cardboard container, insured, with tracking number provided for you.

Sometimes we use UPS or Fed-Ex for heavy or bulky items if it saves money for the buyer.

We will honor a buyer's request to ship an item a certain way if requested; however, if that option is more expensive, all additional costs have to be paid for by the buyer.

Bulky, or very heavy items like furniture, machinery, etc. are mostly listed for local pick-up only. If a buyer wants an item like that shipped, he/she will have to arrange their own freight shipping. We will assist in any way possible.

INTERNATIONAL SALES:

Most items are available for purchase to international buyers through the EBAY Global Shipping program.

RETURNS:

If an item is not as described, return it in its original condition for a full refund, including original shipping fees. If an item is returned for other reasons, i.e. buyer's remorse, the wrong size ordered, etc. then the original shipping costs and return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer and will not be refunded. We do not charge a re-stocking fee.

If an item is lost in the mail or broken upon arrival, it is the buyer's responsibility to file a claim with USPS or FedEx on their site.

TAXES:

Michigan residents have to add 6% sales tax!

TERMS:

By placing a bid on this item you agree to the outlined terms and conditions above! Thank you for your business.
