The Get Set Read! curriculum is based upon the latest reading research and California's English Language Arts Standards. The activities in Get Set Read! strengthen, enhance and refine phonics skills and concepts. It provides parents with knowledge and skills to support their child’s learning and provides practice with important reading skills and concepts children are learning in school. This fun, engaging, and motivational game can be used at home or in classrooms.

The skills practiced in Get Set Read! are sequential in nature. Each skill builds upon previous skills. The activities begin with the first two phonics skills students learn 1) letter recognition and 2) consonant and short vowel sounds. The activities follow a natural progression of skills, ending with consonant digraphs, vowel digraphs, and consonant blends.

Intended for students in grades K-6. The purpose is to reinforce classroom lessons. Older students in grades 7-8, including English learners and other struggling readers, will also find the games beneficial and fun. Phonics charts and assessment cards are included. Additional support is offered with phonics Tips, Follow-up Activities, and Tutor/Parent Tips in each set of instructions. Instructions are in both English and Spanish.
