Polish vocal jazz group, formed in Warsaw in 1964. 
“NOVI” is actually an acronym for “New Original Vocal Instruments”. All group members were multi-instrumentalists who graduated from the Warsaw Advance Music School.

Album Torpedo NOVI recorded as a big band accompanied by the Polish Radio Jazz Orchestra. The leading artists of the Polish jazz scene, including Tomasz Stańko, Michał Urbaniak, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski and Włodzimierz Nahorny, were involved in recording process as well. The album features the well-known songs Torpedo and Something Special. The latter one had its second life in 2006 when it appeared on the compilation Late Night Tales: Belle & Sebastian assembled by this popular Scottish band.
