The Cometic MLS ( multi layer steel ) gasket provides maximum sealing performance for todays high output engines. It requires NO sealants upon installation. MLS is ideal for aluminum head to aluminum or cast iron block use. It is able to withstand the shearing force created by the two materials. With MLS there is no need to re-torque as the embossed design of the MLS gasket provides an even clamp load across the sealing surface. This allows for measurably less bore distortion. MLS gaskets are comprised of multiple layers of stainless steel due to it's increased strength and ability to rebound. It is also very corrosion resistant while still providing maximum sealing characteristics when exposed to coolants and / or oil.
