Tribal Artifact of Asmat Female Figure Standing with Joined Feet from Papua New Guinea -Lot 142

Up for sale is this primitive and unique Asmat Female Figure standing with joined feet, the hands in front of the prominent genitals, with oblong face, oval eyes, long ridged nose, crescent shaped mouth, decorated with incised ornamentation on the body. Hand carved from a single piece of wood with traces of lime, red ochre and charcoal. There are old inventory numbers on the back of her feet (801).

Provenance: Collected during an expedition made in the early 1970s into the interior of New Guinea along the Sepik River Region.

Condition: This piece is one-of-a-kind, hand carved by Asmat Tribesmen along the Sepik River. Some natural wear and tear, tip of the nose is missing. Sold as is. Please review detailed photos for overall quality and minor imperfections, as they are part of the description.
