Please note, the offering is for one chicken wire net. The helmet is not included.

Item offered is a high quality reproduction of a metal grid net chicken wire for German steel helmets M35, M40, M42. Hand made based on the carefully studied historical photos and preserved original items. It is a light-gauge medium-weave chicken wire that is attached to the rim of the shell. Slightly aged and rusted to give it an authentic look.

Chicken wire baskets were one of  the several strategies used by German soldiers in World War II to add extra camouflage to their helmets. Helmets that used wire for camouflage were typically found in the Italian and French theatres in 1943 and 1944 (please refer to the historical photos for more details). Can become an excellent addition to any German helmet for display or re-enacting.

The chicken wire net we offer comes already formed and ready to put on the helmet. It would perfectly fit the helmets of sizes 64 and 66. It can also be used with sizes 68, 62 and 60, but some additional fitting might be required.
