It used to be that with old incandescent bulbs and traditional analogue dimmers you would not save much electricity by installing a dimmer as most of the energy would be lost as heat in the dimmer itself, but with Digital MCU Smart-chip Technology the dimmer does not heat up and that energy is not lost. How to change from a standard 3-Way switch

When you pull switch from the box, take a picture of the location of the wires on the old switch with phone for future reference. Take note that 2 of the terminals on the switch are the same color. The wires connected to these terminals will be connected to the 2 red wires on your new dimmer. Mark these wires with a piece of tape. The wire on the third terminal will be your line or load and will be connected to the black wire on your new dimmer. There may also be a green or bare copper wire attached to your old switch. This is the ground wire and will be connected to the green wire on your new dimmer.

Our dimmers have an initial voltage adjustment wheel. The adjuster wheel can be rotated to set the initial voltage when the dimmer is set to the lowest level ensuring lights come on and are stable without flickering even at the lowest dimmer setting.
