Fender / Made in Japan CHAR MUSTANG Rosewood Fingerboard Olympic White [S/N JD23006255]

Char signature Mustang with Stratocaster functionality
Guitarist Char, who has had a great influence on Japanese rock history and continues to be at the forefront of the scene.
The iconic OLYMPIC WHITE color MUSTANG that represents his career is the motif of CHAR MUSTANG, a new MUSTANG that has never been seen before, with various ideas unique to Char.
This model will be released in MADE IN JAPAN, which is easy for more people to pick up.

Fender launched the Mustang in 1964.
In the same year, the Olympic Games were held for the first time in Japan in Tokyo, and Char's guitar career started right around that time.
After more than 50 years since then, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have been decided.
Inspired by this, I wondered if it would be possible to create a new MUSTANG made in Japan that would be easy for even beginners to pick up, with colors associated with the Olympics, and a return to the original MUSTANG concept of a "student model." A project to embody Char's thoughts has started.

The specification concept for the development of the model is "MUSTANG equipped with the functionality of STRATOCASTER".
A new synchronized tremolo bridge has been developed to match the body thickness of the MUSTANG, which is thinner than the STRATOCASTER.
It is now possible to arm the STRATOCASTER while maintaining the playability and maneuverability unique to MUSTANG.
Also, at Char's request, the back panel of the body has been intentionally removed to create a simple style.
In addition, a 3-position toggle switch is used to enable more intuitive pickup operation. The position of the control knob has been changed to a position closer to the strings so that the volume can be operated with a feeling similar to the STRATOCASTER, and the pickguard has also adopted an original shape only for CHAR MUSTANG, which is not found in conventional MUSTANG.
Regarding the sound of the CHAR MUSTANG, which has undergone various improvements, Char also praised the clear sound image in the bass position, saying that the 5th and 6th strings in particular "sounded better".
