A graphic equalizer checker (frequency characteristic measuring instrument) that integrates a wobble tone oscillator and a sound level meter, and has a condenser microphone.
The measurement frequency can be set to 1/3 octave step and 31 points in the 20Hz to 20kHz band with a rotary frequency changeover switch that emphasizes accuracy and operability and a push-type 3-stage range changeover switch.
A wobble tone is used for the measurement signal.
The wobble tone is the frequency of the oscillation signal modulated by another low-frequency signal, and the phase constantly changes with time, so the phase relationship between the direct sound from the speaker and the reflected sound constantly changes. As a result, the relationship between enhancement and cancellation is averaged, preventing the occurrence of standing waves.
Furthermore, stable measurement is possible even at low frequencies, and sound field measurement can be performed in a state close to a music signal.
When measuring a high frequency range, it is equipped with a protection switch that prevents destruction of the tweeter due to excessive input (over 10 kHz).
A wide range of sound pressures from 35 dBSPL to 105 dBSPL can be read directly with an accuracy of 1 dB on a scale by means of a five-level sound level selector switch of 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90 dB and a level meter of ± 15 dB scale.
In addition, the meter response speed can be switched between slow and fast, and in the slow position, the wobble tone is instructed on average, enabling stable measurement.
As a measurement microphone, a back electret condenser microphone (non-directional) is adopted, in which the fixed electrode at the rear of the resonator element is charged to make the diaphragm thinner.
