Beautiful Black Cast Iron Pedestal Dish Robert EMIG Vintage MCM--Greek Mythology Images--in Excellent Condition

As we struggle to downsize after 5 decades of collecting, I have this fine piece of MCM ironware art.

We also have just listed a second, very similar (but not identical) piece for sale, in a separate listing. That one was made by IRON ART.  Please see Photo #19 (next-to-last photo) in this listing for one view of the two pieces together.

Please message me if you are interested in both, to use as a not-quite-identical but highly compatible pair.  We could combine shipping.

Uses:

This is a display or table serveware piece.  We have used it to serve cherries, grapes, lemons, candies, pot-pourri, and other things that show well in a shallow, elevated serving piece.  See Photos #16, #17, and #18.   We have used this piece as a small centerpiece on a small dining table.  We have used it in a display of collectibles on living room or library shelves.

Robert Emig Products of Reading, Pennsylvania
Robert Emig (1929 - 2016) was a distributor of decorative metal ware. Robert Emig Products was incorporated as a business on December 20, 1956.  Contracts were signed with independent foundries to create the castings.  Emig then finished and distributed the individual products.

Emig sold cast iron Inn signs, fire marks, planters, wall and table accessories, bookends, desk and smoking accessories, switch plates, clocks, patio and fireside accessories, lamps, brackets and hooks, toys, mirrors, candle holders, kitchen and bath accessories, decorative American eagles, and trivets (Source:  Trivetology website)

Various sources collectively indicate that Emig designed some pieces, contracted manufacture to various local PA foundries.  Some pieces are listed as 1930s, but this seems unlikely, as he would have been a child.  Most EMIG pieces are likely from the 1950s through 1970s or 1980s.  The founder Emig was "Sr."  One of his 3 sons, Robert, Jr. took over the business.

Description Details:

The maker's mark is on the base of the pedestal:  "1236 B," then "EMIG" (smaller), and then the number "3."  (These marks appear as Photo #8 and Photo #9.)

An additional marking under the bowl section:  "1236 C 1197 1" (These marks appear in Photo #7.)
