 DESCRIPTION:
Offered for your review and consideration is this wonderful, very clean, mid-20th century vintage, large format, 31 ½" in height by 25" in width oil on canvas, signed 'Mimi' and dated 1962. It's inscribed on the back of the stretched canvas 'La Paz' (Bolivia.) The painting was found in southern New Hampshire and was discovered unframed. It has a naturally dry, matte painted surface, with the varnish now almost entirely reduced by atmospheric conditions, light and air. The painting features a striking portrait of an indigenous Andean young woman wearing traditional Bolivian female peasant attire, with a characteristic orange colored wool collared shawl, buttoned at the top below her neck. She's also wearing a blue gray, large collared shirt and a long, flowing pink-violet skirt, with what appears to be a fabric belt, wrapped around her waist. Her long blk hair's tied in several ponytails and she stoically rests, sitting with her hands clasped together on her lap. In the background is a printed, floral backdrop, possibly alluding to printed wallpaper with a vermillion green painted lower wall, as found in many Latin households. Signed on the lower right. A great vintage Latin American figurative painting. Very compelling. Clean.

CONDITION:
Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition.
