The wizard DeCade died generations ago, leading the last great revolt of the Planet Melange's churls against their despotic feudal masters. His bones were broken and lost; only his songs remain.
The Churl Dulain joined the Resistance in his youth-an exile Resistance, devoted to readying the churls for their next great attempt at freedom. Now that moment nears. Back on Melange for the first time in year, Dulain must now hasten that revolt...or die.
The Giant Gar is the mysterious stranger whom no one knows, a power greater than he seems. More powerful, perhaps, than churls, masters, or even the Resistance...

When Matt Mantrell - Her Majesty's Wizard - conjured himself from magical Merovence to his hometown in New Jersey, he discovered that vicious drug-dealing gangs had reduced the old neighborhood to a wasteland - and forced his parents to the brink of destitution. For Matt, the only answer was to transport them safely back to Merovence with him.
But the Mantrells weren't the only ones moving to Merovence: While Matt had been away, an army of Moors had invaded. As Queen Alisande led her army forth to engage the enemy, Matt launched his own campaign - with the aid of his fledgling wizard parents, the faithful dragon Stegoman, and a hapless tagalong thief. They sought to root out the real enemy behind the mayhem, even if it meant grappling with djinn, matching wits with a Moorish military genius, and trading spells with sinister sorcerers. For this enemy proved to be a cunning and deadly wizard - one who served the most evil master of all.

King Kobold
~ Rod Gallowglass #3 ~

Publication: 1982, Granada, 2nd printing

Cover art: Gino D'Achille

Font size: small

Gramarye, a gentle planet where, in the 31st Century, people choose the life-style of medieval England; except they're prejudiced against and persecute their witches and warlocks (espers, naturally).
Rod Gallowglass is stationed there as an agent of the intergalactic DDT--Decentralized democratic Tribunal--to protect the precious esper colony from its primitive fellow Gramaryans, and to insure a gradual integration.
This already whacky society is stirred up with a batch of paranoid esper Neanderthals led by the strane King Kobold, brought in by alien futurians to destroy those espers so vital to DDT's future.
When this unhealthy mess starts brewing, our warlock-cum-everyman is the one to watch.
