In over 50 years of collecting Automobilia, I have only seen ONE of these, and am now offering it for sale as I trim my museum collection down a bit.

I believe that this was likely made the first year that Lincoln Marks featured their (now famous) "Opera Window"...which was 1972.  So we likely have an item now a half-century old.  It displays very glamorously, but please examine all the images carefully, because there is a middle layer containing the "floating Star" that is sandwiched between heavy glass that has just a bit of delamination "here and there" which generally is not seen or is not very noticeable (Note: much of it is most visable from the underside and not as much from the top).  However, the laminated glass is still quite solid in one piece.  Almost anything laminated 50 years ago will have some "patina" of aging.  Please be sure to examine all the images at right...the final image also shows a very small chip.  In sum, it is exquisite - but like most 50-year old items - not completely perfect.

The brass pen holders are powerfully magnetized, so you just "pull" the pen receptacles for cleaning/polishing. Both pens are ballpoint...one has a genuine "Parker" refill, the other has a non-branded refill.  Both are still writing at the moment...but no guarantees on how much ink is actually left.  I believe these are common refills that are still readily available...please see images at right.

Alas, this is one of those items where it can be observed that: "They just don't make 'em like that anymore".  It would be prohibitively expensive to produce such a promotional item today, though I am sure it was not inexpensive when produced - and that is likely why I have never seen one before.  It may have been a Ford Headquarters Executive/VIP award sort of thing - or possibly a prototype of an elaborate Lincoln VIP accessory that was considered but never put into volume production...I just do not know.
