Maybe you have a new record? Even new pressings sometimes are dished due to the pressing plant cutting corners not allowing enough time to cool down. You’d be surprised how many there are. Minor warps can cause some audio disturbance making your stylus work harder. Dished records are also caused by poor storage over time and luckily we can usually flatten them. Sometimes poorly stored vinyl also cause minor warps too.
We do not accept the following types of records: styrene discs (usually USA pressings), shellac, 78's, picture discs, acetates, lathe cuts, dub plates, nor flexi discs. We accept only standard plastic vinyl LPs, 12” singles, and 7” singles ( 7"s must be with serrated edges or also known as groove guards). For example the 7” singles with serrated edges are typically UK/European pressings. If in doubt please ask. The machine specification is not set for USA/Euro/JA 7" (large hole) centre pressings without serrated edges, however we have had some success with these, and perhaps can cure or improve problems and if you do send them, then it is on the understanding they may not flatten. Please also note ultra thin records (usually from the 1980's, particularly EMI pressed ones, are tricky to flatten as they are below the general threshold settings of the machine).
As some warps on records are not so straight-forward and sometimes much more complex (multiple warps), we cannot guarantee every warp will flatten. For this reason, we ask you to bear this in mind when paying for this service, as you are buying a service to attempt to flatten your record. If the warp itself is caused by visible heat damage that already has caused distortion of shape to the grooves, we cannot fix that problem. The machine will only attempt to flatten the vinyl. The machine does this safely, and does not cause any damage to your record. If you have a 7" or 12" record that has a very small edge warp, look at it side on. If the warp is more or less within depth of record, then it's unlikely the machine will fix that warp.
Please let us be very clear. This machine cannot perform miracles. Do not send us a bendy heat damaged curly edged record expecting it to flatten good as new because it will only flatten the vinyl not fix the curly edges caused by heat or fix the damaged grooves. If the record itself displays discoloration, looks too shiny in places or looking like it's been exposed to heat, then no machine will fix this. Likewise if it has a very tiny edge warp. Please do not waste your money! Please see last photo of such a record not to send us!
You are purchasing this service that includes deep cleaning your record with a professional vinyl cleaning machine (if we feel it is needed, we do not clean new records) and then a flattening session that lasts 4 hours that involves gently heating, then cooling your record.
Here's what to do:
1) Buy and pay for the service and select quantity of records you want flattening. We will refund any excess postage.
2) Wait for our same day email of where to send your record(s) and please send it promptly to exactly our business address as registered with ebay that we will supply.
3) Send your record(s) to us WITHIN 1-7 WORKING DAYS ONLY BY A TRACKED SERVICE to us, packing it securely as we will return in same carton you send it in. Please do not send the outer cardboard lp sleeve. We do not need it. If your item is not received by 20 days, we will automatically cancel and refund you.
4) Once received, we will likely deep-clean your record to remove any imbedded dirt (unless it's a new record), followed by the 4-hour flattening process.
5) We will dispatch your order ASAP and ship back to you by the tracked delivery you choose.
6) please include your name and address in the package AND return address on back of your package so that we can identify your order easily.
Often or not, your record should be flat after one session, however depending on the severity of the warp, we will attempt up to 3 to 4 further sessions. If it's not flat by then, experience tells us that the warp is not curable.
Our turnaround is usually 2-4 days depending how busy we are and the dispatch time on the listing only reflects additional time for you to package up your record and postage time to get to us.
Please note, our fee whether it is flat or not is non- refundable.
Please note: If you send records that are shellac/styrene then we are not responsible for any damage caused. We do NOT play your record once your record has been flattened, nor are we responsible for the playability of your disc. You are buying a service for us to attempt to flatten a record - that is all. It performs this process safely, and we work within the specifications of the process. To reiterate, if the disc has had groove damage from the warp or heat originally, then the machine will NOT fix that problem and no machine can fix that problem and we are NOT responsible for this.
If you're unsure, send us some photos by the ebay messaging system. We may be able to tell if your disc is suitable for flattening, but we cannot offer a definitive yes or no by photos alone. Do not ask for our direct email, it is against ebay policy.
We are not a physical shop and therefore we cannot accept items being dropped off to us nor collected, it is only via post only.
Disclaimer: by purchasing this service, no liability is accepted by us for loss or damage to items whilst in transit. or indeed in our possession. Once in our possession we certainly look after your item really well. As we have mentioned, we cure many dished or warped records, however some discs have multiple warps that are more complex than others, and may not flatten part or not at all. Bear in mind, heat is involved to flatten your record and we are not liable for any warps that are exactly the same or worse due to the complexity of the warp.
If it's a really rare item and/or you value your item that much, then we advise you to insure it for full value whilst in transit and in our possession. PLEASE SELECT SPECIAL DELIVERY IF YOUR RECORD IS WORTH MORE THAN 50 GBP so we can send it back by SPECIAL DELIVERY. IF YOU CHOOSE SIGNED FOR DELIVERY AND IT'S REALLY RARE WE WILL ONLY SEND IT BACK BY THE METHOD YOU PAY FOR.
