In Beirut in 1986, a civil war is raging, but Zozo and his family are trying their best to lead a normal life. Zozo's father dreams of taking his wife and two sons far from the everyday explosions of gunfire and mortar blasts; to Sweden, where their grandparents have made a new life. Zozo plays in the war torn streets, oblivious to the danger, until tragedy strikes. At just 10 years old, he is torn away from his family and is forced to make his own way through life. Zozo's only hope is to find his way to Sweden, to a strange new world and difficult new identity as an outsider. The beautiful story of a small boy and his great will to survive. Josef Fares follows the successful comedies Jalla! Jalla! and Kops with Zozo: a significantly more dramatic and emotionally charged story, but directed with Fares' trademark sense of humor and visual flare.
