Used in our Forged carbon Skinning kits this is our 12mm Chopped Carbon Fibre Tow.
This chopped carbon fibre tow is made from 100% virgin standard modulus fibre (4-5Gpa)
chopped to a consistent length of 12mm.
This specification of chopped tow is often used as reinforcement in compression moulded forged
carbon fibre components.
Being a virgin material made from consistent feed-stock, the material is extremely consistent and does
not have the irregularities or inclusions characteristic of recycled chopped tow.
This length of tow is ideal for creating the "forged" carbon look. Which can be purchased as a skinning

Carbon Fibre Skinning explained
Carbon fibre skinning in 12mm tow is the process of overlaying existing components with a thick
layer of real of carbon fibre 12mm tow in order to give them a up to date unique carbon fibre
look. When done correctly apart from the weight it should be impossible to tell the difference
with one made from 100% carbon fibre .
The process can be used on mostly any components and materials you wish to use it on ie car
trim consoles, binnacles, dash parts, exterior parts wing mirrors, skirts, diffusers, bonnets/hoods
you can also use it on furniture, architectural features, household objects and exhibition displays
Skinning is mostly done for cosmetic purposes, However carbon fibre skin will also add a tough,
durable finish to the original component. It will also increase the strength and stiffness of the
original part.
Please Note: Some plastics (including polypropylene, polyethylene, HDPE and others) can be
very difficult to bond to. Parts made using these or similar plastics are unsuitable for skinning
unless prepared with a suitable plastic primer
