This is a beautiful antique Dutch needlework sampler, showing angels, flowers, fruit baskets and trees.

It was stitched by a 14 year old girl ('Oud 14 iaar') and is dated 1830 ('Anno 1830').

The sampler is stitched on open weave linen cloth with multi-colored silk thread.

I took the photos with the sampler on a light grey background. Because of the open weave structure of the linen cloth, the background shines through. The sampler will look different on a different colored background.

This is quite a large sampler, it measures approximately 20 1/4 x 22 inches or 51.5 x 56 cm.
