Jennifer Markes
Jennifer Markes is an American artist whose pieces of art
have traversed the planet from the US, to Haiti, England, Japan and French
Polynesia. She was born and brought up in Los Angeles from where she discovered
her passion for painting and drawing. She studied painting with John Hatch and
got her BFA Cum Laude after her studies from the University of New Hampshire.
She is widely traveled and has interacted with a plethora of cultures
throughout the world. She has a connection with nature, something that has
acted as her inspiration in most of her drawings. Jennifer Markes art has been
exhibited all over the world in art galleries.
According to her, painting is a gift. She says that she did
not practice to paint as it was innate in her. She does not fear the effect and
the strength of colors, and believes that colors should be let to come out
uninhibited. Her greatest inspiration comes from the traditional and the
contemporary Caribbean artists.
