Copper engraved map on hand laid paper mounted on thin card. Hand colouring

William Camden (1551 - 1623), historian and antiquarian first published his 'Britannia', a description and history of Britain, in 1586.  The book was republished many times over the next 150 years.  The 1607 edition was the first to contain a series of county maps, mostly engraved by William Kip and William Hole and based mainly on the work of Christopher Saxton. This map comes from the 1637 edition.

Page size is 32.5cm by 40.5cm
Map area is in good condition for age, engravings are clear. Some browning and stain. Repairs to the back. The map has been glued on to thin card so it could be framed.  Hand colouring.
