NATHAN G. BURGESS. The Photograph Manual; A Practical Treatise ..., New York and London: Appleton and 16 Little Britain, 1862.

12mo, apparent 7th edition, pp. 261, 3 (ads), preliminaries lacking, blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Burgess evolved with the ever-changing processes and practices of early photography, issuing this book in 1856 as The Ambrotype Manual and, as ambrotypes went out of style, writing new editions as new ways took over. Here he deals with cartes de visite, stereographs and other new styles. See Imagining Paradise, p. 166, and Epstean Collection 704 and 705.

Condition of this book
Covers heavily stained and discolored, hinges repaired, inner margins lightly dampstained. Tears in advertisements at end of book.
