Beautiful old Sevres French porcelain portrait plate, finely hand painted, featuring a portrait of Duchesse de Bassano (?), signed Marin to the left of her shoulder, blue-eyed and fair, she wears a purple and orchid color costume, the border is painted a rich "Paris green", with raised gold netting and flourishes, measuring 9-1/2" in diameter, marked Chateau de Compiegne seal in red, a pale blue Sevres marking, and SV40 with back to back letters with crown, also marked D de Bassano in hand script, see photos, good condition, no chips, no cracks, no repairs, previously owned, from a local estate. Chateau de Compiegne was a royal residence built for King Louis XV.  We researched the Duchesse de Bassano, and the paintings of her look a bit different from how she is painted here, so perhaps we aren't reading the hand script identification on the back properly.
