DetailsThis is a substantial and thorough book sub-titled: "A study of the Spiritual Nature and Needs of Man." It contains three volumes originally published separately, but here combined in one volume. The three parts of the book are:

  1. The Person and Work of Christ
  2. The Relation Between Christ and the Christian
  3. The Believer's Response to the Holy Spirit's Inworking

"Ruth Paxson (1889-1949) was Bible teacher, missionary, and author. Born in Manchester, Iowa, she graduated from the State University of Iowa and then attended Chicago’s Moody Bible Institute. She served as YWCA secretary for Iowa and eventually traveled as secretary for the Student Volunteer Movement.  In 1911, Ruth sailed for the mission field in China, sponsored by the YWCA. Health concerns forced her to leave China soon thereafter and Miss Paxson went to Switzerland; then followed a period of Bible teaching on the European continent, at the Keswick Convention in England, and in the United States until her death."

"Her Bible lessons to pastors, evangelists, and teachers in the 1920s were well received. In response to requests from both Chinese and missionary friends, the lessons were expanded and originally published in three volumes, now combined in this one-volume edition."

A fine addition for your bookshelf!

Condition: Card pocket in the back with no other indicators of being a library copy (possibly a private personal library?), the cover shows a little wear, some white speckles on the lower front cover, name in front, corners lightly bumped, there was extensive underlining in pencil which has been erased but still very lightly shows in places and there are about 25 pages that have some underlining in ink, a few minor spots on just a few pages, otherwise in good condition with a solid binding and mostly clean pages.

NOTE: The letter/number at the end of the title line
for this listing is just an inventory code

About Us:

Rivendell Antiquarian Books sells used rare, vintage and collectable books predominantly from pre 1970. We have been sellers of antiquarian books for over 20 years, and our experience helps ensure quality descriptions of our rare and collectable books. Be assured that we want your experience with Rivendell Antiquarian Books to be enjoyable and problem free.

We believe that it is a travesty to simply throw away a used book when there is little or nothing wrong with it - we believe in giving each book the chance of finding a new home. We appreciate the impact a good book can have. We know the excitement of a new page turner, or the familiar joy of an old favorite, and we find satisfaction in putting older, and often scarce books in the hands of people who have the same love for old books that we do.

Customer Service:

Rivendell Antiquarian Books is committed to ensuring each customer is entirely satisfied with their puchase and our service. If you have any issues or concerns please contact us and we will be more than happy to help.

Our books have been inspected carefully by hand by experienced book valuers to ensure the condition description is as accurate as possible for this exact copy pictured. If you have questions about the book before or after purchasing, please feel free to contact us!

Packaging:

We take pride in packaging our books for safe delivery, and if you check our feedback, you will see this reflected in the comments of many pleased customers. For nearly all of our books, we use a specially designed boxing system from IPS (Inovative Packaging Solutions) located in York, PA. These media shipping boxes are designed to conform to the size of the book, securing it and preventing it from bumping around during shipping. The end result is a box which provides a double thickness of cardboard covering the front and back of the book; actually almost like a box within a box. The outer layer of cardboard extends beyond the ends of the inner "box" which very efficiently protects the corners of the book from being bumped and damaged by the sometimes rough handling packages receive in transit. In addition we place the book in a plastic bag to help guard against moisture if a package is left out in the elements.

Delivery:

We aim to get all books shipped within 24 hours of order except on weekends. We can't control the delivery time once a book leaves our hands, but most of the time USPS is prompt in delivery, and the expected delivery time given by eBay is usually fairly accurate. Because we use media mail to keep costs down, it does take a little longer for delivery, and occasionally packages get delayed in the mail system. If for some reason your order has not arrived within the expected time frame, please get in contact with us so that we can try to help you.
