The SUBMARINE BOYS series, written by Victor G. Durham, consisted of eight volumes originally published by the Henry Altemus Company between 1909 and 1912. Early editions have appliqué covers that match the dust jacket art. Later reprints were available from the Saalfield Publishing Company in the 1930's. 

Characters in the series include: David Pollard, an 'innovator'; Jacob Farnum, a shipbuilder; Jack Benson, the captain; and Hal Hastings, Eph Somers and Williamson, all crew.

Submarines in the series include the Pollard, the Farnum, the Benson, the Hastings, the Somers and the Spitfire.
