Antique 1890’s to 1900’s round wire frame eye glasses made from Platiluminum material. In very nice vintage condition as shown in the photos. The case is included and may or may not be original with the glasses.


Platiluminum, a mix of platinum and aluminum polishes to a bright silver durable finish. Was developed by Johnston Optical of Detroit Michigan.


After much time searching, I was unable to find another pair of glasses marked Platiluminum. I’ve attached pictures of the 1898 Optical Journal featuring an ad from Johnston Optical introducing Platiluminum.
